new purpose-built production assembly rooms
Work is now complete on two new purpose-built production assembly rooms. Each is for a different customer and will ensure the highest levels of efficiency and security. Specialist jigs, fixtures and testing rigs have been designed and built for use in these specialist areas.
has new lighting installed
The entire workshop area of the factory has new lighting installed. This is energy saving with the replacement of single 400 Watt lamps with twin 70 Watt tubes giving a total saving of 260 Watts for each light fitting. The lux on the factory floor has actually increased significantly due to the increased length of the tubes employed. It helps the environment, helps the workforce and helps the bottom line!
two new apprentices
Morris Engineering welcomes two new apprentices this month further adding to the young people learning their trade in precision engineering in the company’s on-going training scheme. Many of the staff employed here today began their careers with apprenticeships at Morris.
reduction of waste coolant
A terrific reduction of waste coolant produced by the company has been achieved with the introduction of a new evaporation system. This facility removes the water from the waste coolant which accounts for some 93% of its volume. As part of the company’s on-going drive to be as environmentally-friendly as possible, it means less weight and less bulk collected for further processing and disposal.
25th anniversary
The company celebrates its 25th anniversary. Roger Morris and Tim Winzer started the new company in 1982, the year of the Falklands War. On a lighter note it was also the year of the first Compact Discs and the year when Channel 4 was launched with its first programme, the game show Countdown which, like Morris Engineering, continues to survives and thrive after a quarter of a century!
